![]() ![]() Invest in new towels, to cycle out the frayed inventory. Can't find help? Stay closed if you cannot: Staff the front desk with welcoming people. Did I mention we were the only ones checking in at the time? I understand Philadelphia was shut down for COVID, but if Home2 Suites wants to open up, it should provide a room that actually seems like it is cleaned and disinfected for my "comfort and protection". This should have been a segue for him to communicate how things work and what I could expect during my stay at this particular hotel, but instead I got the bare minimum (just the room number, keys and our complimentary Gold Member water). The young man who checked us in seemed more interested in watching ESPN on the lobby TV than explaining how things work at Home2 Suites, even after I said this was our first time at their brand. And the garage charged $47 per night for self parking instead of the $42 listed on the Home2 Suites website. This meant we had to go into the garage, pay with a credit card (no staff on duty) for our 2 night stay, then bring our luggage from the car, down the garage elevator, pass by the garage panhandlers, to the hotel, instead of just unloading in the spots presumably reserved for guests "checking-in". With no other guests in the lobby/reception but us, there were no available "check-in parking spots" in front of the hotel. Hospitality was lacking from the moment we checked-in. As long as it's kept up in its newer condition, it comes well recommended.… The hotel is right in Center City, adjacent to everything, including the Jefferson Station on SEPTA. After breakfast I checked out via the Hilton app, and was on my way. I was fine with cold cereal & milk, and a banana. Complimentary breakfast was again typical of Home2 Suites, "healthy" fare. This could be heard in the room, but it did stop after dark. Of note in the area, there are plenty of vagrants in the streets, some who set up microphones and speakers and then either play instruments or sing. none in the hotel itself, but as one might expect in any major city, one does hear sirens at all hours. For a November evening it had been unseasonably mild outside, so no heating nor cooling was necessary. HVAC was fairly quiet, especially when I shut it down. ![]() There was ample space in the room for my belongings and plenty of room in the bathroom to put down my toiletries. The suite is really one large room but with a hospital-like curtain to separate off the bed area from the rest of the room if desired. I found my room to be clean and typical of those I have encountered at other Home2 Suites I have stayed at over the past few years. I later returned downstairs to the front desk to collect my complimentary water bottles, and my status was recognized. That room was ready for me early and I went directly to it with my digital key. As I always do, I checked in and chose my room online the day before my arrival. ![]() Being fairly new, I decided to try this Home2 Suites right in Center City. I am a Hilton Honors Diamond member, and as such I like to stay at different properties across the Hilton portfolio when I stay in particular cities.
